I just put a manual actuator on my 90 k1500 because of the problems associated with the automatic ones. I have the new actuator in, but now I need to know how to get it to hold in the "on" position. I'm guessing I run a cable somewhere, but I'm not sure where or how really to do that. I only need to have about an inch of travel in the cable to actuate the front axle. If anyone has experience with these let me know.
Thanks guys.

homw made kit or posi lock kit ?

i have installed the posi lock kit before on a few trucks. just fallow the directions and no problems .

It's not the posi-lock kit. The guy that had the truck before me gave it to me. All it is right now is just the actuator, which has a 2 inch rectangle of metal on the end of the rod. In that piece are two holes. One on the top, which links to a cable and moves the actuator rod. The other hole is on the bottom of that piece and hooks to a pin coming out of the axle assembly. I'm just wondering what the best way to run the cable is.

I lied I'm dumb. Did a bit of research and it's a posi-lock 600 kit. I just don't have the cable or the mounting kits for it. Any ideas on a little home-built action for that?

OK, the problem is not that you don't have the cable, so much as what else do you not have.
If you had the whole system, you can buy control cables at most parts houses.
But, if you are missing one little part or more, its going to be difficult to figure out how everything goes.

BUT, have no fear, the Internet is hear. (With apologies to Underdog)

This link should tell you about every thing you need to know.

I would download it to the computer and maybe print it out.
Pay close attention to that picture of the parts to see if you have what you need.

Ya, all I have is the actual actuator unit. I don't have the control knob or mounting hardware for it.

Well, most of the stuff could be figured out by looking at the parts picture and the finished mounted picture.
Probably the hardest part would be the unequal leg brackets that the bell crank mounts on.

But, if you have any fabbing skills at all, you should be OK if you just study the pictures and take your time.
