I am building an 86 crew cab dually, just picked up an 89 GMC Jimmy.

I have a front clip from a 73 truck.

My original plan was to put the 73 front clip (along with the full vert conversion) on the Jimmy. My first blazer was a 73.

But the dually would look really cool with the 73 front clip on it too. The front clip is already white (as is the dually) and the dually still needs alot of work done to it.

No matter what I do I will do the full vert conversion to the Jimmy at some point.

So should I put the 73 front clip on the dually or the Jimmy

Is it just the front clip, or do you have the wipers and other stuff you need to convert it? If you have it all, I would say do it on the Jimmy. I am sure you could find another at some point for the dually. I must admit though that I don't like the stacked headlight of the 89.

stacked headlights? where?

front clip on the dually, keep the quad front on the jimmy, and go topless

Is it this Jimmy? If so, keep that nose the way it is and put the 73 nose on the dually.

I voted for the beanbag chair idea, maybe put some pics up so we can see exactly what you already have.

I like the 73-78 front the best of all myself, but the one in the mid 80's with the stacked headlights with the body color bar across the front is hella sexy too.

Yes thats the Jimmy in question, the front end I have is a 73 front end, it has the eggcrate grill

This is what my dually would look like with the 73 front clip on it. The added bonus is my dually is white right now, and the clip I have is white.

Pretty much have everything the core support grille latches hood fender springs. I have the right windsheild wiper posts to make the conversion too.

The two front ends (the 89 GMC and the 73 Chevrolet) are pretty much my two favorite front ends on these trucks.

I first voted for the jimmy, but I changed my mind, the dually would be sweet with that clip.

What was the first year for a chev/gmc dually? I can`t remember anything older than 78.

Full vert on the crew cab right?

Ha if I could think of a good way to do it maybe, that would be so freaking cool!!!!!!

I like the way this poll is going, that pic I posted is what got me thinking, that dually looks bitchen!

There's a good way to do it. Only problem is it would require swapping doors at the same time.

Eric, just put the front clip on the dually, it'll get wrecked eventually on the K5:D

No NO NO, the Jimmy is for easy trail rides and I do actually plan to keep this one nice. Never gonna see rocks (except for maybe Moab) never gonna see the stupid rocks we do around here.

I even plan on painting it up real nice and purty like.

I also want to drive the hell out of the Jimmy.

I think the great and powerful Colorado K5 has made up my mind for me. I really love that pic of the dually I posted, I may even use that paint scheme.

Anyone got any pics of the rear of a truck like the dually I posted, how does the two tone go in the back or does it end at the dually fenders?

good call, that jimmy looks great with that color combo and that style grille.

Gotta love the 70's style two tone paint too.

By the way if your core support is not in the greatest shape, I have a clean one.
I also have the doors from the 74 as well.
That is all I have left.
I always like that design the best except that the hood hinges go bad if you don't take care of them and could bend your hood.:doah:
I also have a really clean set on my chalet, but that one is staying there.:D
Now when the 89 front end came out, I had a new favorite.
I am hoping that the 91 I just bought is like that.

Don't do anythign with those doors man, I took all the little peices off mine and put them somewhere safe and now I can't find them! :dunno:

When I had my 73 I used to spray the hinges with WD 40 just about every 2 weeks or so. The hood I have is good so I will be very careful with that.

I may just do the full vert thing on the 89 this spring more than likely now. Going to use the same doors I have on the 89 now they are in good shape.
