I need help with my vintage air kit that was installed in my Jimmy. It seems to be leaking a very light colored and light weight oil. I havent found the source of the leak yet. What is the oil and where is it coming from? Is it coming out of the compressor?

that's what it sounds like....is the performance of the unit degrading?

What is it leaking on that you found the oil?

AC systems have a small amount of oil in them to lubricate the seals, etc. it's a lightweight oil.

If you see that, you've got a leak. Find it and fix it then refill with the correct amount of oil and recharge the system. I'm sure there is a UV dye that can be used to trace the leak.

Don't keep running the system with oil escaping. It will eventually lead to more expensive failures.....

I havent run the A/C yet since i found the leak. I found the leak on the garage floor.

can you trace it to find the source?

as soon as i get some time to get back on it I can trace it out. Im usually working 12+ hours a day right now so that leaves little time to work on the truck. As soon as I do find it I will post the source.
