Hey All,
So I just installed new rear weatherstrip onto the top on my 73 and when I rolled the window up, it sealed so well that when I tried to roll it down, it just stuck in the weatherstrip!!!

Now the rear glass can be pulled in and out of the tailgate and nothing is holding it in. In looking at some parts diagrams, it appears that it basically pulled out of the sash channel and the sash channel filler (what appears to be a rubber strip) was all dried up and crumbly.

I just want to know if reinstall is a simple as getting a new sash channel filler, wrapping it around the window and putting it back in the track or if there is something more complicated I am missing.

Also, do any local places like Autozone or Orielly carry sash channel filler? I can't seem to find it anywhere but places like LMC.

Thanks,
John

Ok, I found one thread on the internet that says Windshield Urethane can be used to bond the window to the sash channel, anyone ever tried that?

Rear window

I've been doing auto glass for sometime now and I've owned my own shop for 22 years, I'm sure I have wrote something in here before about this :D

Well after doing some more research and talking to the guys on Pirate too it looks like Urethane will be just fine. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Ok, just to wrap this up 100% I went to NAPA and bought some 3M Windshield Urethane and it worked PERFECTLY! It sealed the window in the channel and is super strong so now I have no problems.

I also cleaned up and painted the sash channel while I was in there to prevent any future rust.
