The PO has sprayed some kind of rubberized coating on the firewall of the blazer.:doah: I have tried to wire wheel it off, that just heats it up and smears it around. Does anyone have any other ideas?

heating it and whiping it off? not sure what kind of rubberize stuff your talking about..cut off wheel or something?

try paint thinner too that usually works just time consuming.. you could always take a propane torch and burn it off!!! lol

heat gun and scraper, then lacquer thinner on a rag.....

maybe scrape it off with chisel or putty knife, then use xylene, mineral spirits, acetone or some other solvent to get the rest off. might not have been the PO that put it on there. mine had it too and i painted over a lot of it when i swapped engines.

Propane torch and a sharp putty knife. That's what I used to get the floorboard rubber coating off with.
