help with temp gauge in rear view mirror

Hi all I got a97 trk that has a compass and outside temp gauge built into the rear view mirror.My qustion is does the temp part fail much.I've tryed holding the buttons and all,but the compass is the only thing that comes up.Any info Thanks

the temp sensor is gonna be up front somewhere near the grill. now are you sure that you have a mirror that does both as there were just compass mirrors also

I'm pretty sure,because when I hold the right button down and the display shuts off.Then I turn it on the 100 degree with the celsius+fahrenheit symbols come on,BUT then it goes right to the compass.

As far as I know pickups did not come with a temp gauge, only the Tahoe/Subs

mine doesnt it just has the direction
