Got this welder from my work for free.
Came with that plug
Need it to look like that last one which is the mig I have.
Anyone know what I need to do or where I can get the parts I need to switch this all over? Many thanks for the help
Thanks for the info. I'll spend some time searching for the plug and wiring this weekend. You can hook that tig up with a plug like that but need to do the investigation to make sure.
The 4th conductor in the first plug is most likely an equipment ground. If you have a manual for the machine, it should tell you in there otherwise you can open up the machine and look to see how its wired. An equipment ground can be chased back to the chassis of the machine itself. Also, you should look to see how things are wired in your panel that you're hooking it to.
Without doing the investigation myself, I'd say you have a neutral and two 110 legs on a 220v breaker.
At any rate, you should be able to get the plug from a Menards or Home depot or the like.
For what its worth, I have a tig machine just like that. Using a plug very similar to the second one. All my blades are straight though. Mine may be the 50amp and that one may be the 30 amp.
Typically the 4 prong style plug is a 3 phase plug. Have you checked the voltage requirements for that machine to make sure it isn't a 3 phase machine?
There should be a spec plate somewhere on the machine, it will tell you what input voltage and phase.
Typically the 4 prong style plug is a 3 phase plug.
why?

I have no idea why, but every 3 phase machine in my old shop had that same 4 prong plug.![]()
If it is 3?phase. Is it possible to convert it over to standard

Finally got a chance to look at the label. So if I'm reading this correctly. It looks like single phase set up correct?
Which would mean if only need a new plug?
Nice!Yep, it's a single phase 220v unit.![]()
Be sure and download and read the owner's manual I linked to before you hook it up. Its a dual voltage machine, and must be changed to match your voltage. The manual shows how to do it. Just swap a couple of wires.
Depending on where it was last used, it might be set for your voltage already, but be sure and check.
No sense in taking a chance of damaging something.
