HELLO to all you ck5 wheelers!!
I am in need of a u joint but I am not sure what I need...

This is what I have,

A CUCV (M1028A3) (I did the dually conversion myself)

I have removed the 14 bolt and replaced it with a Dana70HD.

When I reinstalled the drive shaft to the rear end I noticed there is lateral play within the yoke on the rear end. I you were to turn the drive shaft to where the yoke is parallel to the ground, the u joint slides laterally within the yoke. The caps are tight within the straps but the trunnion sides left and right.

Do I need one of those conversion joints that have two different size caps on it?

Is the u joint I have the right one, or is just worn out?

Thanks,
Charles

It sounds like the 70HD yoke is for a 1410 joint. The 14BFF was probably 1350. Those two joints do share the same cap diameter, but the 1410 has a larger cross. The conversion U-joint may be a Neapco 2-1435.

Thanks for the reply Blue 85!!

I have done some research and I agree with what you said... I do need a conversion joint. I have a Fleet Pride shop near me and they said they can get me the one I need.

If any one else has any more information that would prove to be benificial I would like to hear it.

Thanks,

Charles
