I'm in the process of swapping my 6 lug front 10 bolt to 8 lugs and it already has warn premium hubs installed. I started on the passanger's side 1st, I removed the allen bolts and pulled the outer piece off, and out came the inner splines with a large thin spring behind it, I removed the outer retaining ring, then used 2 of the allen head screws to help pull the outer splines out..........finished the swap then bolted it all back together, but now the hub lock is very hard to turn. I went to the driver's side to see if I re-installed something out of order, and found that there is no large spring behind the inner splines - what gives? is there supposed to be a spring only on the passanger side?

Both sides should have that wave spring. Double check the torq on your spindle nuts and check that the knob turns before you get the allen screws put it. Typically when putting in the allen screws it will put things in a bind if you completely run one screw all the way down tight before moving on to the next screw.

Also, not to assume anything, but make sure when you assembled all the outer components, the spindle and the brake plate are on in the right order, and the pin for the inner lock collar is outward, not toward the bearing...done them both, makes stuff not fit.

is that the wave spring on the left? the passanger's side is the only one with that spring

well, I did a search and came up empty - looks like the wave spring is the one that's attached to the locking cap which was on both sides. I decided to assemble everything without that coil spring and found out that it is needed - the passanger side wouldn't unlock when turned back to free. when I put the coil back in I pressed out on the axle shaft from behind the brakes and it seemed to help getting everything back together, once the allen bolts were in the lock moved smoothly again, now I just need to grind the calipers/backing plates and I'm done..................with this mod
