I'm not that knowledgeable on cars in general, and I just bought a 1986 K5 Blazer. it's an ex-military truck...it's diesel/ runs off of 2 batteries...but the only way it will start is to jump it every time so something is wrong with the alternator or something...the batteries are good...and it runs great when it gets cranked...could somebody please tell me what to do...i want to start working on it myself, but i need to know how to fix it...i cant find any other info on working on this truck...PLEASE HELP!!

Hello,
Does it do this in the morning. Or if you shut the truck off and went to turn it right back on the batteries would be dead?

if i shut it off, it WILL not crank back up...unless jumped off...again

Hello,
First off check your + wire running to the starter. On my K5 the + wire was hitting my fan belt and made a bare spot that killed my battey fast. Or it could be your alternator. Have your alternator checked.
Thanks
Adam

Sounds to me like bad contact at the batteries if the batteries are good. Start with checking the batt posts, make sure theyre clean and the terminals are tight.. Check the voltage coming from the Alt.
