I just got done doing some data logging on my truck and i saved the files before exiting the program and for the life of me i CANNOT find the damn file. Where should i be looking on my computer? When it saves it doesn't tell you what directory it save to.

Do you know the file extension? You could just do a search for .xls, or .doc if you know the extension.

Try attempting to save it again, but don't actually hit "save". It should show you the directory where it last saved something.

go to the search function under the start menu and search for the file name

probably in the progams folder for the data logger or if using vista look under recently changed files in the start menu

I already went to my documents and it's not there. I tried a search of .txt and once again nothing. I just went out and did another data log thinking maybe it just didn't save for some reason and yet once again still nothing. This time though i wrote down the whole "file created" (20090405_111623_BLM.txt) and did a search and STILL nothing.

Brian, there is no "attempting to save it" you either exit the program without saving or you click the save table button.

Ok, just thought of something but not sure if it matters or not. When you click datalog a screen comes up that says "Log Data" and there are 4 choices and i only have sensor data checked, should i have any of the other boxes checked?

Oh, I remember now. Try looking in the same folder as aldl program file.

All my logs go straight here:
c:\program files\winaldl

Ok, all fixed now. Not sure what happened but i just decided to uninstall winALDL and reinstall it and once i did it now works as it should.

it didnt show you where it saved? Its odd search the file extension didnt yeild results. I would try to google search the issue and see if anyone else has that problem, and if you know your computer pretty well id do a manual search of likey folders such as my docs and the programs directory

There was something wrong with the winALDL program that was installed on my computer. I uninstalled the program and then downloaded it again and now it works.

That's where they all go now that i reinstalled winALDL.

Next time you want to look for a .txt file with search use *.txt

The * is a wildcard which means search for anything that ends in .txt
