I am starting to installl a new sound system in my k5 and i was trying to run the postive cable through the passenger side but there is no holes so i figured drill my own, wellll i drilled from the inside right underneath a vent looking thing , the bit didnt go all the way through but this weird clear oily crap got on the bit, immeditaly i thought it was coolant so i ran my truck with the a/c running for a while and the heat running for a while the only thing i noticed is air is coming out of the hole as well. then a puddle formed under the truck in that area i stuck my finger in it and smelled it , it smelled like old old grease and it was clear, it has appear to have stopped now.

Im thinking it was just crapp pooled up in the vent

Helpppp!!!

If your A/C system is charged and you hit any part of the a/c, it should spew and hiss.
There is refrigerant oil in the system but all the oil I've seen is usually a light yellowish color.
Maybe some previous work done where some type of oil was spilled and has sat there for some time?
I've seen power steering fluid that was clear but that unit is on the driver side.
Gonna be interesting to see what it really is. :dunno:

wheels87k5 thank you so much it is a/c oil, i can ease my mind now

4xcrazy -could be true she is 23 years old and was sitting for a while hahahaha

it sounds like AC oil...

word of warning... if your running pos wire thru a metal part of the firewall, make sure you use a grommet or some kinda chafe protection... it will cause a possible fire at some point...
