Help

ya got a valve issue in that cylinder, most likely a burnt exhaust....... no change with oil indicates that.. a leakdown test would confirm which valve it is...

After the leak down test if it is a burnt valve am I able to just replace the valve or should I replace more then that up to doing a head job

all, depends on how bad it, and the rest of the seats look... the head will obviously have to come off, so that in itself says to send it to the machine shop and let em go over it as needed.... and if you decide to send the one head out, it is usually advisable to just do the pair of heads to keep things even..

but in a pinch, you can sometimes get away with just lapping the valve in question with that head off... it could be a bent or sticking valve, but with it making compression, than losing it, indicates a seat issue..

Do you know what the stock heads are as far as the ccs on the exhaust and intake. I am the 3rd owner of this truck and my father in law had it since 85 about 15 years ago he said the engine was rebuilt and he had a mild cam put in it he also had a Holley intake and Carb put on at the same time as well as headers. He doesn't think it was bored out at all and the rest of the motor is stock. So I was thinking if I'm going to have to for a head job I might just upgrade the heads but I'm pretty ignorant on what all I would need and what kind of upgrade would be worth it and what all I would need to replace(I.e. rocker arms and such) I'm really looking for info on what to look for and how to match up components for a good engine that will be reliable and run strong( this is obviously not a quarter mile truck but a trail/weekend truck)
I would like to make a smart purchase but I really don't know much. Like I know I can get some reman heads from the auto store already assembled for 250 but summit has some for 310 is the price difference worth it. I don't know enough to know the answer. And when it says they are assembled what else do I need to get them installed and running(do I need new roller rockers or can I use my old ones)
So please school me on my lack of knowledge or at least point me in the right direction

Latest up date truck is running it ended up being a kinked fuel hose at the tank

Now my next question is about body lifts
My truck is a manual transmission can I do a 2 inch body lift with out modifying anything

You may have to hack up the floor a bit for the shifters, other than that and moving some wiring and hoses around, no.

Truck running real good now, and of course it a new issue comes up. My brakes are going.
I'm looking at replacing the pads calipers, rotors, lines, wheel bearings and ball joints. Is their any thing else I should look at replacing while I have all this apart?
