HELP

I thought it was a hoax, but the negative cable on my truck is copper clad aluminum. Says right on the cable sheathing. i'd replace that junk ASAP if it's a possibility.

Yeah, we us AL/CU (Aluminum / Copper) ground lugs at work. The al/cu marking just means they work with aluminum and copper: UL listed and approved.

I've seen oem cables with the copper/alum markings also, and always wondered if they conduct very well after several years, compared to pure copper...my guess is NO!...(especially if its a BBC or 6.2 that is being cranked over)..

so I borrowed an idea. I took the battery cable and used it from the frame to the bracket holding the alternator. It started with no problem, so I
let it run for about 20 minutes. It never died. So I removed the cable while it was running and it died about 10 seconds later. I think I have it figured out. Bought a new ground wire and going to install it today. Wish me luck, cuz Im praying.
