So heres the deal, I live down in Colorado Springs, have been driving to Littleton to go to EMT school, I came up last night for a test. My truck has been having some issues starting, now it wont at all, it grinds, I got under it and checked the starter. was kind of loose, so i tightened it. still no go, i pulled the starter to look at it.gears are pretty bad. I just need to get the thing back to the springs, but dont have enough money to tow or anything. I have been out of work (unemployed computer worker trying to change careers) Anyone have any ideas, Cheap starter?

Rob

Well, if it were loose, it could have ate up the gear on the starter. I think you can get a lifetime guaranteed starter from (gulp) Autozone for around $40.

Id be glad to help in any way I can, I think the cheapest starter would be from checker auto. Shoot me a pm if you need some help.

First of all thanks. Next, can you tell me where the closest checker or parts store in general is? I am at ACC on Santa Fe and College. My father in law is heading up, to help, since he knows the truck pretty well, it used to be his.

I believe the closest one is @ wadsworth and bowles By s.w plaza, Just take bowles up 2 blocks past wadsworth and I think it's the second light turn left but you will see it on your left side.

well... I bought a autozone starter thinking lifetime warrantee Its gotta be a good one well I put it in and couldent figure out why it wouldent start my truck... I took it up the the local speed shop they put it on there tester and said its bad I told them its brand new(rebuildt i guess) and they showed it to me on the machine the bendix was goening in and out (sposta stay out while starting) so I took it back and bought one of the speed shops hi-tq mini starters for like $50 more and been REALLY happy with it

Yeah, I don't normally shop at Vatozone, just trying to help a guy that's low on funds. Oreilly's get my business.
