well not sure if anyone has done this but if so let me know the best way.

basically this blazer i picked up has the rust in all the typical blazer spots however it really doesnt look to bad just surface mainly some of it just starting to creep through the crappy paint job (no bubbling) i dont expect to have to cut any sheet metal away and fix it.

Slight problem though this guy has herculinered (is this proper english? lol) the entire interior which is fine but i suspected there was rust underneeth.

So i grab a knife and start poking around sure enough there is rust underneeth in places just surface rust , the sheet metal looks good but now i want to remove the herculiner and get rid of the rust ..

So anyway has anyone ever removed herculiner or bedliner of some sort and if so whats the best way .. i was wondering if the chemical paint stripping stuff would work .. he did a pretty lousy job its not on there too thick at all.

Any advice would be much appreciated .. i do intend to repaint the entire rig eventually ive been quoted around a thousand bucks to media blast the whole thing frame under body body and floorpan (body on engine in) .. dont know if i need to go to this extreme or not havent taken it to a body shop yet to waste someones time havin em tell me what it needs and what they would charge blah blah.

Any help is appreciated thanks!

maybe try some of that aircraft paint remover stuff? it comes in a gel. we use it on bike frames when we scratch the hell out of them riding and want to either raw them or change them. the stuff is strong as hell.and take it from someone who made the mistake. wear thick gloves and do it in a well ventilated area

Dont bother trying any form of sanding it will only clog the paper.

Perhaps a torch will get it to peel?

ya im hoping theres a chemical that would strip it if not i guess media blasting it would be the next choice.

I heard brake fluid, also a torch if you heat it up it will start to peel, May want to try a coarse wire wheel as well

Brake cleaner eats paint. Maybe???? It's cheap and you should have some around; it wouldn't cost much to find out.

its looking like ill be sandblasting the entire car at this point so that will probably be the obvious way to do it which just puts all the other interior stuff i wanted to do b4 that on hold ...dammit!
