I ended up getting the vx-7r. it is a triband that you can open easily and get frs, gmrs or freeband just by programming it with the comander software. I use it Mainly for wheeling and when we have trips I can run the frs channels since not everyone is a HAM. on company trips I use FRS with the customers and (since all the employees went and got their licences) simplex for our internal comunications.
