bought some of those cheep three pack gauges, well my water temp gauge will thread into the head, but the wide flange on the actual sensor is small enough for the head that it will keep going into it. so i was thinking. my edlebrock performer intake has a water outlet right where the thermostate is at, can you get an accurate reading from right there?

An accurate reading is what ever you think it is, that doesn't really make sense:confused:. The temp is going to read cooler at the neck and warmer in the head. But both are still going to read accurate. Does that make sense ?

Just as he said, it will be accurate, just not the ideal reading your looking for...

ok well how much cooler am i looking at? meaning if i run off the water outlet, is reading from that going to be safe enough to go off of?

The water outlet is going to tell you how hot the water coming out of the engine is the head is going to only tell you how hot the one side in the head is. Not sure it really matters I have used both and either works
