ok well i guess he tore off 2 gears on the pinion gears..does that sound right? (i think) and he doesnt want to spend all kinds of money on new gearing..so would it be cheaper to buy a new axle? hopefully u understand

what axle did mike have bad luck with ? whats happened exactly ?
he is cool, so hope to help him in any way possible

This is where the post started...should have just continued here

As far as what to do...swapping out the axle is a better bet/less expensive in the long run, than new gears. A 14 bolt FF can be found for $150 in good, swap-in shape. Of course you'll need 8 lug wheels to go with it. And matching gears up front if it's a 4x4. Otherwise, if you don't want to mess with gearing/new rims, just get another 10 bolt /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif for $50 or a 14 bolt semi-floating (a little more $$ than the full-floating).
