Sweet looking truck! I'd like to do a BIG truck sometime, just for the sake of doing it! :D Very cool man, can't wait to see some pics of it in the mud! :waytogo: Are y'all gonna put a cage in it? I think that would be a very good idea!

Say What???

Sorry, that's the local terminology. A "Box 2 VI" is a wheelers nightmare around here. You get pulled over specifically because the officer feels the truck is unsafe or illegal in some way. He issues you a ticket ordering you to take it into a provincial motor vehicle inspection facility. IIRC you have 14 days to comply, and then your vehicle insurance is revoked if it hasn't passed the inspection.

On a truck like this the height alone is a problem, as are the tires sticking out, lack of mudflaps, modified body mounts, etc etc.

Getting a stock truck through a VI is hard enough...BTDT.

Yeah...

We don't have annual inspections, or annual mandatory safety inspections. This is something soley up to the discretion of the officer. Worse yet, even with valid and recent inspection they can send you back again if they 'suspect' you've altered the vehicle since the inspection.

That being said, driving like a sane human being, keeping your junk clean, and being civil if you are pulled over all go a long ways to preventing getting a Box 2 VI.

I daily drove my K5 for 10 years and never got more than a minor fix-it for mudflaps. Even went through a roadblock at an offroad area and got no more than a comment or two about the 5" of tire sticking past the sheetmetal.

ya thats def right no need to be a dink to the cops for pulling you over, i mean i know we prob haha. But you know as long as your respectful of them they are pretty lieniant to tickets and such:D

haha total VI case for sure oh well hopefully the bacons wont bother us too much:D:haha:

"bacons"!:haha::( That's FUNNY too! How about "Police Officers" that enforce vehicle safety codes that stop poorly engineered vehicle modifications from injuring people because someone wants to look "cool" in a big truck.

I've never been stopped in GA down here. Daily drove my 86 with 37s for 5 yrs. My buddy had a '92 Chevy Cheyenne w/ SAS and 22" of lift on 44in boggers that they never messed with. I guess they just don't really care about that down here. There's a guy in my town right now riding around all the time in an Avalanche on what looks like 44 STS swampers. I know there's all kinds of different laws in the Georgia Blue Book that deal with lifted trucks, the last time I looked, but it basically comes down to if the cop is an Ahole. Technically, in GA, if you raise or lower a vehicle 3" from stock its illegal, if it's over 26" to the frame, and also it's illegal (from what I read) to modify your vehicle from stock form:confused: I don't know the details on that, but that was a state law I read. Go figure
