Hesitation on throttle after hard wheeling..

The big hole, not he one that your finger is pointing to was part of the stock air cleaner housing and does nothing now. I am not an expert, but I dont think that the pump is driven with serp. From what Ive read and seen on here( I think) the half serp. also catches the alternator, and yours looks to be v belt. I was thinking that one of the emmisions experts would of chimed in by now, as I am am talking at the highest extent of my knowledge right now, which aint much. HoustonTX is right about cleaning the eng. compartment up, but I dont know about emissions in your area, although its obviously not working correctly now anyways.

If he has factory stuff, then your right, it is half serp, have v-belt. I only know because i own an '86 also, and i was reading in LMC. It said '86 was the first year for a v belt. I had one serp belt, and 2 v belts. one was a v belt for the
single v belt - AC, PS, and water pump, crank
serp belt ran - alt, water pump, crank
second v belt - crank and air pump aka smog pump.

dont think its the stock motor, ill take a closer look tomorow.

When someone puts in a crate motor, 90% of the time, they use the old accessories, and accessory brackets. Rarely would a crate motor come with all that stuff. So, it make be an aftermarket motor, or one out of another vehicle, but it probably got the same stuff. For example, look at the pic i posted for you. its a edelbrock 350 performer motor, stuff has all the stock brackets.

wow, thanks for the tip. Still cant find the numbers on the block so i dont know exactly. They're just not there. Meh

You know out of everyone who ever gave me advice, that helped the most. I saw a v6 s10 block and iw as sure they were on the back of the block, not the top. Ill try looking again.
