i did search but i didnt really find what i was looking for but which is a softer ride nitro or gas shocks

I believe most all gas shocks are "nitro" shocks, unless some companies are experimeting with other gasses. Nitro means charged with nitrogen. The nitrogen charge helps keep the oil in the shock from cavitating (air bubbles) under heavy use. Cavitation will not allow the shock to act as a good dampener.

Not to mention Nitrogen is inherently inert. It would not make sense to have any other type of gas in something like a shock or strut.
