Well, I had to go to the doctor early today to make an appointment to go back.......
Anyway, Baitfish1 called while I was on the way to see if I was going to be there. He was on the way over from Pensacola to pick up the boat.
He wants to get it cleaned up, maybe some new carpet, and the wheel bearings serviced for the trip in August.
I tried to tell him that it was a fishing boat, not a showboat, but he insisted. I also told him that I could do all the bearing servicing, only done a few hundred before.
Whoever his trailer guy is, told him he would replace bearings and hubs for a pretty decent fee.
I told him to get the guy to put new packed bearings and a seal in the best used hub, and we would keep it for a spare.
Always nice to have. I think I will see if I can't rig up some kind of vacuum seal system to store the spare hub.
I've got a food vacuum seal system, but its not big enough for a hub.
I know that lots of bass boat and others carry complete spare hub sets, anybody know how they store them to keep dirt and moisture out?
I saw one setup that had a complete hub and spare tire mounted on a spindle welded to the trailer.
Pretty nice, just take the nut off, and you have a complete assembly no matter what was bad.
But, I would worry about the seal being bad when it came time to use it.
So anyway, Ryoken, It will be a week or so before I need the info now. But I'll jump on it as soon as it comes back.
Thanks
