How many of you are still running the stock air cleaner hose and the little air box on the rad support? I just took mine off to have a place to mount my tranny filter, and was wandering if anyone came up with something to replace it, or if they just left it off.

TIA

I threw mine away. That is where I mounted my radiator overflow can when I pulled my inner fenders.

TBI works best with the stock CAI left on. TBI likes cold outside air. The stock CAI system will flow way more air than the stock 480cfm TBI needs. You will loose power breathing hot under hood air. Rule of thumb is 1% power gain for every 10 degree drop in intake air temp. That works out to aprox 2.1 HP for every 10 degree drop in temp on a 210 HP 350 cid TBI engine.
Of course When you increase the intake air temp the oppisite happens. You loose power.

Hmm. Maybe when I rip all the AC junk out this summer, I`ll hook it back up. Thanks for the info, Thunder!

Yeah I wasnt referring to the open air element, I was referring to the dual CAI in the link.

I flipped my stock air tube around and through the hole in the firewall where the heater/ac box used to be, free snorkle!

nice! hahah

I used it until I blew my TBI 305. Actually noticed it ran worse without it. That motor was junk either way though...

i dont run my intake hose, you def lose alot of power..

Quanitfy "a lot" and have you dynoed it with and with out the tube to prove this?

I can see loosing maybe 1 HP if you have a hot engine compartment. I however do not run inner fenders so I get plenty of "cool" air around and in my engine.

maybe not alot, let me rephrase. I can feel a slight diffrence in the motor as it gets hot.. thats my opinion, maybe im wrong.
