Any good?

I need a gun to remove the carpet glue and factory deadening mat from my K5 floor.

I have one. It hasn't broke yet. Puts out heat. Seems fine to me. One of the leds is broke

I have as well
Works great for shrinkwrap

I've only ever used mine for heatshrink, light duty cycle, but a woodworking buddy borrowed it to straighten his vintage golf clubs and ran the damn thing for like an hour straight, worked fine

I've had one for about 8 or 10 years. It's cheap crap, but it generally does what it's supposed to do. I used it 2 weeks ago to get decals off my tractor hood in prep for painting. That didn't go so well, but the heat gun did it's job just fine.

For $10, i've more than gotten my money's worth.

If you are doing a critical project, buy 2. I'd guess 2 is cheaper than a decent one, and mine hasn't let me down in the last 3 or 4 years.

I do intend to treat it as if it's disposable, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't go up in smoke the first time I set it on high.

Thanks guys!

I actually burned mine up by being on high and only a few inches away from what I was working on.. (paint off wood) just didn't let it breath enough I think.... first heat gun I ever had though so most likely my bad

I'm on my second one, because I gave my first one to Colby. Used it today to heat shrink about 15 connections. Still works like new after several years of use.

I mostly use it for heat shrink or bending plastic / adjusting stiff wires, etc. So it is somewhat intermittent use in the sense that I don't run it for hours on end. I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't, I just haven't tried.

I've done a lot of wood stripping with mine, hours of intermittent use (5 minutes on scraping, take a break for 2, 5 minutes on scraping, etc.)

Still going strong few years later.
