I've only ever used mine for heatshrink, light duty cycle, but a woodworking buddy borrowed it to straighten his vintage golf clubs and ran the damn thing for like an hour straight, worked fine
I've had one for about 8 or 10 years. It's cheap crap, but it generally does what it's supposed to do. I used it 2 weeks ago to get decals off my tractor hood in prep for painting. That didn't go so well, but the heat gun did it's job just fine.
I actually burned mine up by being on high and only a few inches away from what I was working on.. (paint off wood) just didn't let it breath enough I think.... first heat gun I ever had though so most likely my bad
I'm on my second one, because I gave my first one to Colby. Used it today to heat shrink about 15 connections. Still works like new after several years of use.
I mostly use it for heat shrink or bending plastic / adjusting stiff wires, etc. So it is somewhat intermittent use in the sense that I don't run it for hours on end. I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't, I just haven't tried.
