Not sure what your doing but if this motor has some miles on it than yes. Yes because that rod has been wearing away at one point and accumilating varnish at another set of points. Thus creating high and low spots. You are probably jammed on the high spot, use some wd-40, carb cleaner, etc, to help dissolve the varnish. Or you could be screwed, but I'd put money on the varnish.

Displacement, cubes, and did you say you drive a riceburner???

If all else fails, install a electric fuel pump.

with the rod stuck, would it hurt the motor to just block it off & install a electric pump? we cannot get the thing to move no matter what....is there any way to get the rod off its stuck point??

wierd. you have both the pump and the little plate off? did the engine run before you took the fuel pump off? theres a little bolt hole on the front i think, of the engine that some people put a long bolt in to hold the pushrod in the up position while they install a new pump... might check it out..

so let me get this straight, there is NO play in the rod whatsoever? ha thats a new one.. tap it with a soft hammer or wood block and see what happens

Not sure what year it is. But loosen the bolts on the smog pump.. Some times when you tighten them they go all the way threw and will hit the rod .Also if you take it all the way out you can spray brake cleaner in it to remove varnish and grim..Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....
