Hi Lift length question

Sounds like a story that needs repeating...

he and i were swapping the body on my blazer and having trouble getting the frame low enough to get under the body which i had suspended at maximum height. we decided to pull the tires off of the frame and roll it the last few inches on floor jacks. we didn't have floor jacks tall enough to lift from the axle, so i put a high lift under the front bumper so we could do both tires at once. this was a very bad idea. the garage i had at the time was not very wide, and jonathon had just pulled off all the lugs and was just about to pull the tire when the frame swayed to his side and the highlift fell, i was yelling for him to move, but the space was so limited that he couldn't get out quick enough and got pinned between the bumper and the wall of the garage. another friend and i quickly yanked the frame away and he got out with no more than a few scratches on his back.

scared the sh1t out of us. when using a highlift, never lift from the front or rear - just from the sides of the truck. as far as i'm concerned, it's the safest way to go.

I have the 48"er.I run Jeeps though. So I don't have room for the 60"er.As far as lift the rig to get a tire off the ground I use the smaller ratchet straps.I wrap it around the axle and the frame and snug down the suspension. Then lift with the highlift.

that's a good solution - didn't think of that. guess i'll bring a rachet strap with me from now on - seems easier than building some sort of seat belt set up!

I have used my 60 alot lately. A trick I did was to weld in two piece of angle iron to my bumpers as a guide, helps so it doesn't slip off. I did two on each side.

I always have my chain with me now and use that to keep the suspension from unloading.
