looking to put mine on my hood but was just wondering if the stock hood can take that kind of weight. i think it can just figured id ask before i put it on there. and if there any other suggestions i will look into them and im not a member so if you could post the pics so i could see them

i mounted mine on my hood, and don't like it. the hood supports it no prob, i just drill up through the space in the cross supports where they y.
you have to sit pretty erect to see the corners of your front clip and im 6'4".
the wife bought me a bumper mount kit and i couldn't make it work because of the winch and in the back i didn't want to wipe it on a departure.
but as they say hind site is 20/20, day after i mounted the dam thing i seen a pic here of a better way lol.
that way is by mounting in the tub over the wheel well.
just drill some holes where the box lips over and just use the bolts not the silly brackets.
the same can be accomplished with washers to get the correct backspacing as the brackets.

only pic i have sry

If you have one of the longer ones -- and with a big truck, you should -- they are uniquely annoying to mount. They can go lengthwise inside only if you put it along the bedrail, or maybe strapped to a rollcage, if so equipped.

On the hood is begging for blocking visibility, IMO, as the hood on these trucks is already the size of Rhode Island.

I ended up putting mine across the top of the back bumper, which is a compromise as to accessibility, but :dunno: we'll see how it goes.

Mine WAS on the lip of the bed rail, but I took it out and put in in the garage since the thing mad SO much damn noise going down the road. I will mount it outside later.

Doesn't work too well with the top on, but I don't usually go wheeling with it on anyway.

No fabrication required.

did u fab mounts or use hi-lift ones? this is exactly how I'd like to mount mine.

Fabbed my own. I got the clamps from Lowe's and had some aluminum bars laying around. I drilled two holes for the clamp on the outer ends of the aluminum bar that would accept the U-shaped clamp. Then I drilled a hole in the middle after notching the bar so that the bolt head would be recessed and not hit the roll cage bar. Then I put a thick plastic washer on the protruding bolt, slid the bolt through the jack hole, and then another thick plastic washer followed by a large wing nut.

I got the idea from Hi-Lift themselves who now sell a kit to bolt your jack to a roll cage or tube bumper http://www.hi-lift.com/accessories/tube-mount.html. I figured I could go cheaper than the $60.00 most were charging since I had most of the stuff laying around. I think I spent about $10.00 for the materials but I had the aluminum bar prior to starting.

Here you go:

While I was at it, I also did a shovel and axe mount on the opposite side. I used the same clamp and aluminum bar setup to fasten it to the cage tube. However, I found the metal pieces for the shovel handle in the fence department. The two sided clamps are for fastening two chain link fence poles together. I will be putting an axe on the bottom clamp below the shovel.

Nice set-up. I had a CNC machinist friend make me some real nice roll bar clamps and have mine mounted to my roll bar similar to yours. I do need to see more pics of your cage though. I'm liking what i can see so far.
