Anybody have a link or a recommendation for hi-temp or silicone hoses for my 1976 Blazer? We are talking radiator, etc.

Most shops, i.e. Kragen, etc., just carry the rubber stock replacements. I'd like to get some upgraded hosesm preferably silicone. It seems they make a bazillion ones for rice style street machines but those same companies don't make many for American cars, other than the Camaro and Mustang.
why do you feel the need to upgrade?
I would guess those applications you listed that they are more popular on have the hoses running really close to a lot of hot compnents. In a truck, theres plenty of room to keep them out of harm's way......

Most of my wheeling is out in Nevada during 90 - 100 degree heat. I prefer to have products on my engine, if possible, that may be overkill, but bring peace of mind. In the middle of the Mojave, or other remote places I go, losing a hose is problematic. I try to carry extra parts, but you can't take everything.

Look over at Summit (summit.com? Summitracing.com?) Goodyear makes a set. You might have to check with Goodyear to see if they make a set for your truck though.
I looked a couple years back and Goodyear made the "high miler" blue stuff for our stuff I think it was listed as 81-87 though.

I have the Goodyear Hi- miler hoses they are really good hoses. But I dont think they make them for older Chev trucks. Silicone hoses are good for high heat but are not very tough they can be punctured fairly easy and dont stand up to abraison well. Also you need special hose clamps too.
IMO just get a good quality regular Goodyear hoses for your truck. If your cooling system is in good shape stock Goodyear hoses will be fine.
Or if you want a real stout hose. Goodyear makes Heavy duty hose that you cut to fit.
It comes in 3" lengths. It is made for heavy equipment, Trucks, Busses, ect.

The hoses on mine now are the blue ones. I am assuming that the previous owner found a source for a heavier duty set of hoses, but they have no markings on them. Good to know on the durability of the silicone ones. I checked Summit and when I throw in a 76 Chevy Blazer, all I get is the stock replacement. I suppose I could go with steel braided ones hand made...

i know at oreillys we sell this hose that is metal braided inside it...its some realllll tough stuff. lots of the dirt track racers come in and buy it. it wont work if it needs tight bends, but if you have room for gradual bends, its great. Downside is that its like 11$ per foot...its one of those products tho, where if you end up busting/breaking it, you probably have other bigger issues that will be worrying you more at the time...

Do you have a brand on the hose or is it an O'Reilly store brand?
I prefer Gates hoses and belts. an extra rad hose is not too much extra to bring ot the trail, just throw an extra upper/lower hose in your rig.

I do like the Gates belts. The better stores around here sell them.
