Well I just started building my hoist so i can take the top off and on the K5 by myself. Anyway, For the bolts that are hidden under the rear side panels, i can not get those bolts off. I would think its a bolt and then a nut. Now the problem is everything is turning(bolt and nut). Is there a trick to getting these damn things off?

Thanks

yeah just grind or drill them off, they are probably spinning inside the top. ive had many k5s as drivers and parts truck and only ran into one ever where those bolts were in place, i endup tearing up the top figuring it was stuck, truck was for parts anyways

the main problem is there isnt room to get the grinder in there. I almost wonder if its a carrige bolt(bolts a square head?) I will try with a vicegrip and see if i can pull down and turn the nut at the same time.

slide a sawzal inbetween :hack:I never reinstalled those after i took them out. in fact whenever i put my top back on i just use 4 bolts kinda like you would install a pickup cap. i dont even put the ones running across the top on and it never leaks.

I have`nt taken my top off yet . So where are these bolts at so Ill know where there at before I run into them?

The ones in question are located behind the side panels on either side near the back of the rig.

there are also bolts from underneth. i deleted both the guide pins and bolts from underneath on mine.
