I'd like to replace these seats with high back bucket seats. It would be nice to get a set of seats with the plaid inserts including the back seat. Any ideas?

I’ve got no insight on your seats but would like to say that we need some good pics of that first gen K/5 on the other side of your 77.

Far as I know, there's no reproduction plaid seat covers on the market. I believe SMS Auto Fabrics has inventory of the plaid fabric though. And the plaid changed from year to year too. '77 and '78 were shared, '79 was on it's own, then '80-'82 had another pattern, but the stitching varied by year.

The seats themselves were basically the same though '84 or so.

I think I'll have a head rest put on these and reapolstered with the plaid material. I found some on SMS site and ordered samples. Thank your USSkoval for the help.

People go gaga over those low back buckets that you have. Yours appear to be very nice. Locating high back buckets to use as suitable cores should be relatively easy.

I'm working with a guy that doesn't have a lot of knowledge of these blazers. He tries to be helpful. I had him plug some holes and I wanted him to just try to match the original paint but he ended up paying one side with the original paint color. I'm afraid the other side will probably not match now.

If anybody has a shell they can recommend to replace these, I'd love to put these on the shelf and save them.???

For inspiration and/or use as examples, here's the '82 seats I have in my '77, and also the '78 seats I pulled from a rusted hulk and put in my old '77.

After all these years, that last photo still amazes me. The rear axle still had wheels on it with inflated tires. The springs were not broken. The rear body fell down when I opened the tailgate. That K5 had been on the road just a year or two before that picture was taken.

Yep, I like the red seats. any ideas what years have those? I'll start looking in the junk yards.

My red '82 seats are from a Blazer. The bucket seats from pickups are the same seat, but never offered in plaid. They are also fairly rare. Other than fabric coverings, '78-'84 (maybe '85 too, I can't remember) seats are the same, Blazer and pickup. '78-'80 Suburban bucket seats should be the same too, but also pretty uncommon.

I like these frames. I can't find them anywhere. I've checked eBay and local yards, nothing. I'll eventually find them, it's just the hunt.

I would love to replace the seats in my 91 with some blue plaid ones from a late 70’s. They look way better then the couch fabric the silverados used.

There has to be a frame here that will work? If I buy one of these frames can I separate the mechanism on my seats to put on these so they will slide properly and so the passengers seat will lift? I guess I need to contact an upholstery shop? Right ?

The S106 seat frame looks like it would possibly work, although they only list the 16" wide version and the 21" wide version. The diagram in the photos shows a 19" version that going off of memory only, would be a better fit.

The description says they include foam too. Personally, I'd keep looking for restorable original seats and save a bunch of money. But I'm also kind of a cheap ass at times.
