Hi guys,
I noticed my lights didnt work lastnight so i tried the high beams and only one worked.Long story short i messed with some wiring and now all the lights work ok.But i noticed the floor high beam button gets really hot even when all the lights are off ! i was concerened so i disconnected the battery and then it finnaly cooled down...phew.Any ideas what it could be ?

Thanks Simon.

I had one of those switches smoke on me while driving. A bit scary. I'm going to guess that it's just really corroded/in bad shape. Not a real good design for a truck IMO, the switches tend to get dirty and wet if you use the truck as a truck. Mine was very corroded.

change it just to be safe and see if it still does it, you dont want a fire

iirc that switch is really more like a mechanically actuated solenoid. There's a lot of juice sitting on that. Don't get me wrong the power is suppose to be there but it does indeed sound like something is partially grounding in the plug or the switch.

Definitely change it.

I've had one burn up the wires going to it once...a very salty winter contributed to its demise I'm sure..

I was having trouble getting it to "click" and sprayed some WD-40 in it,got it working, but shortly after that I smelled wire insulation burning...a new switch was about 4 bucks, the wires I had to scrounge at a junkyard, and I bought a new plug at the parts store that plugs onto the switch..
