There is a male terminal on the high beam bulb on the back of the dash cluster. What hooks to this? Is it a ground strap, or a wire that "should" come from the high beam relay?

Im pretty sure the highbeam light connects through the printed circuit platic thing. It's a threaded post right?

no its not threaded. It is a male terminal that comes out just above the light bulb that indicates high beam.

Is this for a 69-72? I packed my old parts so I can't confirm, but I'm pretty sure the highbeam light is on the back of the speedometer. There weren't any terminals on the back of my 71 dash cluster, just threaded posts for the flex circuit. Got a picture of what your talking about?

Here's a pic of the back of my 72 cluster. I can't see what you are talking about either.
Does everything work or are you just putting things back together?

That's an interesting bulb. The flex circuit you have already has both the + and - going to that bulb so I'm not sure why there's a metal prong on the back of it. Perhaps it's a power takeoff for an accessory gauge or something like that. I'd just swap in a normal black bulb and socket and be done. You can get those in many auto parts stores.

Wait: I recognize that white bulb. It looks kinda like the bulb that lights up the trans numbers on an automatic steering column. The bracket would have a fiberoptic wire running to the column that lets light leak from the bulb through the fiber and into the column indicator. I just think that bulb is in the wrong spot.

you are right!! that is the fiber optic connection. I wont need it, as I am not using the column shifter. thanks a bunch! I think I have all my electrical stuff figured out now.

Gotta be the wrong spot....I would like to see the gear selector backlighting ALL the time, not just when my high beams were on! :D
