Anyone have a picture of their exhaust Y pipe set up with a clocked t-case and a lift. Looking for one that is tucked up close to the frame instead of in the stock position below the t-case skid. Thanks
I don't have a clocked T-case but I could snap a shot of my Y pipe if you want. I wanted it as high up as possible and my local shop did an excellent job for me. It is tucked up nice and close to the trans pan and I can still remove the convertor inspection cover without removing the Y pipe (pretty sure I can still remove the trans pan also without removing the Y pipe).
Before anyone says I will boil the trans fluid I have a trans temp gauge and the fluid temp has not changed since I did this.
Mine is currently at my buddies shop getting done as we speak, he already did one, but wants to try something else and tore it back apart. he is going to try and route it between the oil pan drop and the cross member. He is going to flange that pipe so I can easily drop it to do work. I will get some pics of it when I get it back this week as I want to clock my 208 one notch up also.
Sorry no pics, but I routed mine along the passenger rail past my clocked 241 (it gets tight so watch your fuel lines) and then turned 90* and dipped underneath the tail shaft housing over to the drivers side. Every inch of the exhaust is above the frame rail past the muffler and I am still running a cat too. I used 2 1/4" pipe from the shorty headers back to the Y collector. It is then 3" to the muffler and dual 2 1/4" out. The dual tail pipes run behind the factory bumpstop mounts and then turn so that they exit at 45* pointed downwards from inside of the rear quarters. The tailpipe is cut flush with the bottom of the body so you cannot see any of the exhaust unless you are under the truck.
I am doing my homework because I have to deal with this soon.
Taking my stock 89 k5 to a 4" lift and worried about the exhaust Y pipe. I am looking for all options yall have come up with.
1. flexible exhaust piping for a temporary solution?
2. pay money to have it setup as a single exhaust with a custom y crossover that is tucked up and under (but where does it tuck?)
3. run dual exhaust back from each header (cat and muffler for each)
i need yalls thoughts and options. pictures would be very helpful
My exhaust is pretty high & tight, its a "Y" to single 3" run down the driver side for clearance. I do have a clocked doubler which is one reason I didnt go dual. I'd post pics but its a PITA from my phone, check out the pic and/or build thread links in my sig.
