I have a 84 350/K5 Ca version with the electric rochester. I must be blind or its non existant but how does one tone down the high idle rpm when the choke is on. I see no screws or cams with the typical steps to hold the rpm up?? What gives.

The electric setups are a bit different than non.

Is the choke opening all the way up? You COULD mess try adjusting the throttle stop on the drivers side of the carb, but I'm warning you up front, this could potentially cause more problems which may not be as easy to fix.

*IF* I was going to mess with that screw (and I'd only consider it once I knew choke was working right) I'd count EXACTLY how many turns I moved it, so that I could go back to exactly where it was when I started.

Idle shouldn't be at 2000 even with the throttle adjustment off a bit, so I'd not think to blame it first. I'd also make sure to check for vacuum leaks.

The choke seems to work fine other than a tad to rich and set the rpm way to high till many minutes of running have gone by. It feels like the driveshaft will hit the deck everytime I put it in gear. Ive adjusted the choke plate so it dosent load up anymore but the rpm still way to high. Ive rebuilt a bunch of Rochester 4 but never messed with the "electric" version and see absolutly no fast idle adjustment other than possible bending linkages. Every electric choke element Ive set was adjustable by rotating it,this one of indexed with a casting gog or dog and cannot be spun either way. I just hate dropping this in gear at the high rpm, feels nasty.

I know what you mean. If you know what you are doing with the non-electric chokes on Q-jets, then I'd suggest making sure this one operates correctly. If it closes fully, but doesn't open fully, then the lever that opens the choke plate (the one inside the carb body) needs straightened.

I hate chokes. :)
