Anybody have one of these? What are your thoughts? I read that the end ofthem is open...true?

a friend of mine has the hard plastic case. he uses it to mount his hi-lift under the deck of his trailer. for anything other then that I think they are a waste. just a way to make getting to your jack take longer.

If you mean the cover that Hi - Lift sells, I got one for my 60" jack and it doesn't cover the (critical) bottom end, where protection would be good. I have no idea why they just wouldn't extend the damn thing another few inches so it would be worth having. It's on my list to just make a cover that will actually cover it.

Now it's mostly just a PITA.

It would work OK on the 48" jack I suppose, but depending on how you mount the jack you might have to poke a hole in the cover somewhere. I had to do that too.

the hard plastic one you have to cut a hole in thetop to fit a 60". the sell another plastic extension to fill it in.

Just carry some good lubrication. That will make jacking it way easier anyway....:eek1:
Covering it up will just make it harder to use when you want it the most:eek1:

But seriously:
I had the bag. It sucked. I had the hard case. It sucked. I bolted my hilift down it sucked. The only easy way to mount one, if you use it frequently (you do if you wheel by yourself or don't have a winch), is to use big wingnuts and maybe a little lock to keep the thieves from snaking the jack.:doah:
