I went to look at a few axles a neighbor told me I could have. Turns out there were 6 axles total. Three HO72's, A 14 bolt rear, a 60 rear, and a Ford 60 front.

The ford 60 took a hard shot on the passenger side and bent the tube and broke the inner C. Diff is fine. Would it be worth it to have it retubed to a passenger drop for a high pinion front in my 73 K10?

IF I get it retubed I can do the rest. Maybe I can figure out a way to retube it myself. IF I can get this done, I have a feeling a set of RCV shafts are in my future.

Would it be worth it? It won't be cheap but you got the axle for free. Pressing in the tubes is likely not something you could do yourself, it takes a BIG press to do that job.

The inner c's and knuckles etc are available as new aftermarket units.

Go start pricing all the pieces you will need and decide if it's worth it.

Check the center casting for cracks where the tube goes in. I have seen them break because they are cast and brittle. The Ford casting are alot thinner then the Dodge and Chevys so make sure you put a truss on the housing if you do run it.

What year is the Ford 60? They offered about 6 different ones.

I would do it. And do a writeup and take lots of pictures.

And for reference a guy on pirate did this to make a 10bolt drivers side axle for his daily driver. It seemed like a serious waste of time but was very good tech about how he did it.

I have no idea what year it is. It is just the axle sitting there.

Didn't know about the housings being brittle. Makes me wonder if it is really worth it after all.

I was planning a Debenber innners and knuckles. Would be one hell of an axle if I do it.

Do it and weld the pumpkin all the way around to the tube and you'll be fine. Loads of guys switch to he high pinion 60s as an upgrade.

This might be a dumb question, but is there a reason you couldn't make the tubes the same length except swap sides? That way you could use the stock shafts but on opposite sides? The spring perches would maybe be a problem.
