Anyone have a source to get a 140 - 200 amp alternator either built or buy? I need something to that extreme with all the electronics sound and light gear on my Blazer.

I have a 140amp alt in my rig and had it built at a local autoelectric shop! They had it made and tested for me within two hrs and its been on my rig for over 2 yrs. now with no issues! Oh ya and I paid 100bucks for it!

Daniel, have a look around the junkyards for a BMW750i. I got my 160amp Bosch off one of those. I also have a rather power hungry K5 to feed and that Bosch keeps it more than happy.

Summit racing sells a 140 amp for pre 1988 GM for $170
 
It came off of a 92 but it used on both trucks and the big full power cars now. Un like the older alt with an on or off reulator, this one only put out what is needed to much the load Its all so much cleaner as far as noise in radios and such.
 
I have the summit 140 and have some radio squell but it might be in the distibutor. Let you know on that Monday..
 
Another vote for Wrangler, Dan. They are located in Portland best of all. Put one of their 135 amp alternators on my 79 a year ago, love it, no problems. Have lots of other trick wiring stuff, fuse blocks, etc......

Well now... I did not know that the Bosch and the caddy alt would work...Are there others? I now will look the yards over for the caddy one...and what other trucks are the same 180 on???

the nice thing about the gif GM alt is that its GM you can get an adapter plug for about 5.00 to get it wired in right there are really a family of them runing from a 105 amp one right up to a 235 one that are all GM so them bolt on more or less The caddy one is just one thats real high output and has the mounting lugs in the right places Though with some work the rest will fit too! The cads mount are at 12 and 6 so it really does just bolt right on I got mine new from rebuild shop for a 100.00. Much cheper than the other's and it work better to. And being late model Gm they had to computer friendly witch means noise free.
 
Thank Kenny...that is food for thought. I have been having trouble getting the noise out of the amps, should have known better to buy cheap, maybe a newer better one might just help. Thanks again for the info....
