Ok so im going to pick up a set of OTT high steer arms for a D60 really cheap. The problem is that they are reamed for 1 ton TRE's. I just bought a set of 3/4' hiems with jams, bungs and high misalightnment spacers that will step then down to 5/8ths. Is there any company that makes a tapered insert of some sort to convert these to a 5/8 straight hole?

I don't know what company they come from but my jeep buddies have a non-tapered hole in their steering arm with a tapered insert.

EDIT: After reading you ? a little more closely, I see you want just the opposite of what I was talking about. As much as I don't like taking chances with stuff as important as steering, I wonder if you could fill with weld and redrill to your desired dimension???

Yeah that ran through my head also. But does seem like the best idea considering it will be on the street. im thinking about playing with a factory conical washer from a D44.

I'd sell the heim stuff on evilghey, and run TRE's if it's gonna see a fair amount of street time... just for the durabilty alone...
