High torque mini starters

Oh cool so the 97 fits almost perfectly.
But the bolts I got from the Dorman help section are to long at 4 & 1/2 inches.

Any idea what the proper length bolt should be?

I found some that worked. 4 and 1/4 inch long bolts seemed to get it done
I'm curious if this thing is actually going to engage with my flywheel though. The fit seemed a little sloppy.
Might just need to go with the one from summit

Actual starter bolts often have a knurled section on them to give better fit into the nose cone. You should be able to shove it one way to help align it squarely and see how it sounds.
You could possibly wrap some plastic sheet, like part of a folder, around the bolts to tighten up the fit slightly.

Any other bolt but a stater bolt won't work, at least not for long it will come loose and fall out. Plus it will not align the starter correctly.

Can't recommend a bolt that might work for your app, since any made for that starter would probably be metric. how much to long are the dorman? can you cut them ? add threads ?

The two Dorman packs I could find were either 4 and 5/8 or 3 and 5/8. The one hole length didn't matter for the longer bolt since it goes up on the outside of the block but the other side bottomed out before getting up against the starter with the 4 5/8 or just barely started to thread with the 3 5/8

so if you were to shorten the blind hole bolt by an 1/8th" would it tighten up ? i would both bolts for interchangeability.

After being told they don't have any other bolt packs, I went on oreilly auto website and found one that said it is 4 and 3/16 which is just a hair shorter than 4 and 1/4 so I went back to the store (for the 20th time in 2 days) and they had to go look in the back for them. And Shazam, I think this might just do the trick
