It's cool, it's unique, but I'd rather stay with factory GM parts like this............

It would be kewl, until something broke when your out in the backwoods. Hence, the reasoning for factory FI.

With factory stuff, you can "ask" the computer whats wrong in the field - go to your local parts supply and request a <insert broken piece name here> from a <insert your fuel-injection year here> truck. Most likely your parts guy will have it in stock!

It sure would be nice on a street car - Camaro, or Nova.

Little hard to do in my case. I want EFI, but my truck is older, (1976) So no factory option. I do relise I could swap in a complete set up from a newer vichile. But I kinda like the idea of an aftermarket (Stand alone) system.

That's the beauty of factory, ALL you need is a harness - either aftermarket like I used (Painless) or a factory one.............with my 79 I was in the same position as you.

Too many holes for the WATER & MUD to get into! PITA to waterproof ! Other than that, it's kool!

Getting a factory TBI is cheap and easy. I have seen TBIs going for as little as $200 on THIS board. Normally, I see them at ~$400+.

You just need the computer, intake manifold, harness and ALLL the sensors. Plug them in, and VOILA' Fuel Injection.

Or you can go to www.howell-efi.com and pay $1200! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

But it's new, and complete - with instructions. I haven't done a thing to my Howell TBI yet. Nothing has broken on it in the last five + years. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Good luck, and have fun.

a converted IR manifold is $$$$ and will not make the useable power a long runner TPI will
best setup would be a TPI manifold with an Electromotive TEC system controling it.
bye bye to the distributor

I email them about the Hilborn EFI set up, They said I would need to suply them with the intake manifold, they convert it and suply all the electronics for just under $7,000.00. My responce it Go **** yourself !!!!!!! It looks cool, but not $7,000.00 cool !!!!!!!!
