Actually went bass fishing in my kayak at a local lake(Hennesey). This was my third trip to the lake, of which the previous trips left me wondering if there were any fish in the damn lake. Well, after a couple of different worm selections and a spinner, I found some nightcrawler rubber worms(black and brown) and on the first cast, got some small hits....ahhh yes, now I knew I had found the right bait. So, as I paddle my kayak and cast into some reeds, I was reeling in kinda fast to get another cast and BOOOM! At first thought it was snagged, but the "snag" begun to move my kayak around. If you've never fished from a kayak, being low to the water reduces your leverage, thereby increasing the fight sensation. Well I finally managed to pull the fish in, a 6+ pound largemouth. Now again, that may not be too big in your bag, but fishing in a small lake, from a kayak in the middle of the hot day, it was a great catch. Pics? none because my digital camera battery was dead, but my girl did witness it so I have some backing when the stories are told. What a day. I packed it in after this because I was getting sunburned and knew I would not catch anything else that big again at that time of day.
later....that lake should be fun this summer /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
