I have had mixed luck with Hitachi. The compound sliding miter saws are the best. However I had a 4" grinder and it didn't last. It actually came apart (pieces falling out of the case) during use. This grinder was probably a year old but rarely used. This was three or so years ago. Things may have changed since then.
we use the big 9.2 amp 4.5" grinder at work. in 5+ years only 3 of them. 2 had worn out switches. 3rd still going.
oh ya we use a 2 row twisted wire cone wheel on them for cleaning steel / aluminum wheels beads for the tires to seal good. we get lots of rust and corrosion up here in the salt belt.
1 even got duncked in a bucket of lube mixed with water. it was almost new then. took and rinsed it out and blow it dry with shop air. worked for 3 more years till the switch died.
I got one of there 18v combo packs (drill, circular saw, sawzall) and they've been working strong for 4 years. Just starting to get a bit of decreased battery life.
