I need a 2" receiver, but what size ball should I get? Also how do you determine the amount of drop?

The average hitch ball sits between 15-18" fom the ground. Just get out the tape measure and figure how much drop you'll need. The most popular size hitch ball is 2". Mostly depends on what you plan on towing. Or could get those expensive multi-ball & adjustable-height drawbars.

Most common ball sizes are 2" and 1 7/8"...but it all depends on the trailer you've got. Also, know what size the hole is in your receiver (ball mount) - some are 3/4", others are 1".
As for the amount of drop...however much it takes for your trailer/boat/camper to be level.
