Run down to your local u-haul dealer. They sell many different brands of hitches for you yr of K5 and all are relatively cheap.

I just have the Class III hitch that came installed with the factory RPO Z82 option (which also included an engine oil cooler and a 7-pin trailer connector).

Best price I found on a class III hitch was $120 from JC Whitney.

Class III Receiver Hitch, Rating Code OZX185951REach$119.99

Stock K5 hitches are a dime a dozen, keep looking you'll find one. And I wouldn't pay over $20 for one. :)

If you want a rusted-out POS, then $20 is a fair price.

The guys from Florida, I suspect he doesn't have to worry about rust as much as you do.

Regardless, if you want to overpay for stuff, your prerogative. I won't, and I don't know as I even had to pay for mine. I guarantee you mines not a rusted POS, although you apparently know better about it than I. Cost SHOULD be based on demand and supply. I doubt the demand for rusted OR non-rusted used K5 hitches is very high, thus price should be dirt cheap. If it's not, you haven't found the right seller.

Do hitches actually rust off? I mean they are thicker than the frames on these trucks, and the frames don't seem to be holding up TOO bad, even in the salt loving areas.

I pulled the hitch off of my 90 last October. Wen I leaned on it as I was crawling undr the K5, it shifted.. Cut the bolts with a torch and the side brackets were rusted and thin enough that I could bend it with my hands... Frame looks good though...

I think even Wal-Mart sells Reese hitches now..

A hitch from a sub will not fit a K5. Ask me how I know found out today when I tryed to put the one off my old sub on the Jimmy.I also need to start looking for a hitch.
