after regearing the 14 bolt, i noticed some very minor leakage around the shim area..the kind of leakage that just creeps down but never really drips(no spots on driveway). Was I supposed to use a sealer/gasket maker on when shimming?

I didnt regear mine myself but,I can see it has a little RTV right there if that helps any /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hmmmm...that would suck if it needs some /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif its not bad though...maybe if i torgue the bolts down some more.

When I did my gears people told me not to use anything there because it will change the pinion depth /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

that did cross my mind...well i will torque down a bit more and live with it

If it is just seepage maybe ya could get away with just smearing a little RTV on it rather than take it apart /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I would recommend not putting any RTV in there. It will change the pinion depth, and if you think about it, you'd have to put RTV between each shim... I think they just seep a little bit if the mating surface isn't absolutely perfect, like if it has a little tiny nick or something.
