So, I built a box and center console combination. I'm installing it now with a diamond audio mac daddy 10". As I'm installing this, I'm wondering to myself, should I have some standoffs under my box? The sub is downward firing and now it makes no sense to me to have the bottom face of the box where the sub is mounted sealed off. Anybody have a downward firing sub in there truck? I'm new to stereos so go easy.

I have 3 JL 10W3V2's powered by 1,050 Arc audio watts down firing and my box has "legs at heach corner to hold it about 1.5" above the carpet. my subs extend pretty far when hitting. I like them down firing better than my old setup, it hits harder and they aren't booming against the back window.

Finally I get to contribute something to this board!! I'm always the one asking the stupid questions it seems.

Here are the pictures. I built the base, and put my amp under there with a fan blowing across the amp. You can also see the slots I have without the grills on them so that I can get some air flow. The top box holds my sub and the top opens and there is about 2 inches of depth to hold whatever. The pictures are without the standoffs yet. It is made of 3/4 MDF and all of the corners are braced with AL angle.

you cant remote link to a pic on a website that has popups like webshots /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif you can only put up a link to the pic
