I was pulling a couple leaves from my rear springs today and discovered that both of my centering pins had sheared. The axle never moved, the u-bolts were tight (and always have been, I check them often).

Its not really a big deal, the pins don't hold the axle anyway.

Anybody ever had this happen to them

I had taken out my front springs to replace the bushings and while I was at it I replaced the pins on both of them. The whole length of both pins were bent by each leaf in the pack, looked like a set of stairs, but I noticed the u-bolts were loose (from the previous owner)

Yeah, my axle didn't move at all (even though the pins were broken) and the u-bolts were tight.

It just seems wierd to me that the pins could break without the u-bolts being loose. I never tightened the u-bolts, just made sure that they were still tight.

It doesn't really matter, its pretty likely that Blazer Bash will be the last run with leaf springs for me :deal:
