So over at a buddies house last night I discovered a diff that was just removed for a 70 chevy PU. It has 4.56 gears and appears to be a HO72. What do you know about this axle? It looks strong and something that could be very strong.

its a good axle if its already installed, but not really worth swapping in when 14blts are stronger and cheap.

its actually the pre-14 bolt. if the ho has a detroit, you can put 14b shafts and spiders in it. the original shafts are 16 spline. they also have some wierd and expensive hub bearings.

around 2" better ground clearence.

yes 14ff spider gears or full detroit locker can swap in and use the better spline count 14ff shafts. lots of disk brake kits for 14ff swap on also.

and best part 3rd member drop out style and bonus of rear cover also.
