Hey yall. 77 K5, 350ci. Anyone with experience adjusting fuel bowls on a Holley 670? I was having troubles because the primary bowl was full and would not come down. My 670 has the sight glass which is hard to see the fuel and made it a pain. Previous carbs only had a plug not a sight glass and the fuel should be at the bottom of the threads. Holley said not to remove the sight glass but I had to because it was full. Anyone else have these issues? Know any tricks?

Thanks a lot for the help.

You might have the following symptoms as I have with the Holley 670 or other carbs.

1. The truck chuggs at first take off but idles fine.
2. The truck stalls after take off or is slow to respond for a couple seconds at higher speeds.

Check your Primary Fuel bowl for too much fuel. My 670 has a sight plug. Start your truck and look at the sight plug. It should be towards the bottom of the plug. Rock the truck a little to see the level. Some Holleys dont have a sight plug but just a plug. With the engine running, remove the plug and the fuel should be at the bottom threads with a trickle coming out.

Here is a good video for adjusting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge-mIk6nEYQ

If your fuel bowl is at the highest level, you might have bottomed out your float and you need to get some fuel out. You can remove the lower left or lower right bolt that holds your Primary Bowl in place and the fuel will drain out(onto some well placed rags or paper towels of course). Then you can tighten your adjusting screw mostly down, put the bolt back on, and start your truck again and look at your sight plug. Adjust the lev up or down as needed.

Another way to do it is the way I did and just remove your Primary Bowl all together. This way you can inspect the interior for damage or debris. Here is a link I used for a general guidline: http://www.vintagemusclecarparts.com/pages/needleandseat6.html
